Trauma can occur over a long period of time, leading to complex post-traumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD) or can be related to a one time event. Life Transitions
Sometimes, we experience adjustments and life changes that can shake up our foundation and lead to stress and other symptoms. These can include family changes, grief, loss, career changes, medical diagnoses, and many other life changes. Counseling can help you learn how to cope and navigate these challenging changes. Sometimes the symptoms we develop are less related to mental health diagnoses in the brain and have more to do with our circumstances, which can change. Talk therapy and using evidenced based treatments (CBT, ACT, Existential Therapy) can help you navigate these difficult times.

Relationship Stressors/Couples Counseling
Relationships can go throw challenging times. As relationships face stress and hardship, it can lead to lack of connection and break downs in communication. Couples counseling can help all persons in the relationship gain a better understanding of each other and improve overall communication. Sometimes practical solutions and communication can be the primary focus. Other times, working on attachment and attunement in the relationship can be the main source of connection. Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy can help each person in the relationship heal attachment and connect in deeper ways.
Shannon is trained in EFT and plans on completing Gottman Training Levels 1 & 2 in 2026.
